Writing system, pronunciation, vocabulary, and functional grammar. Students with Japanese experience who place higher than 101 on the placement exam may not enroll in Japn 101, but may earn credit for Japn 101 by successfully completing a higher vertically-related course. Emphasis on the development of speaking skills at the advanced intermediate level; focus on utilizing honorific, modest, and respect expressions. For students who have completed four semesters of elementary and intermediate Japanese or have an equivalent background. Recommended preparation: Japn 202 or equivalent.
